BIOPARC Lyon®: life sciences in the heart of the city
Located near downtown Lyon, the Bioparc
welcomed its first occupants in 2007. The first organizations on the park are: Cancéropôle Lyon Auvergne Rhône-Alpes, Erytech
Pharma (encapsulation of therapeutic molecules in red blood cells) and Genopoïetic (development of autologous cancer vaccines).
In 2010, it should be home to the Étoile project, France’s only light ion cancer therapy center, designed to treat tumors
resistant to all other types of therapy. In the coming years, the Bioparc will offer 40,000 sq. m. / 430,600 sq. feet of real
estate programs, including a variety of services and a residence hotel, with an expected capacity of more than 2,000 researchers.
The Bioparc also provides an incubator for new innovative firms.
The Lyon-Gerland Technology Cluster (Technopôle)
Just a 10-minute subway ride from downtown and the Lyon-Part
Dieu TGV high-speed train station, the Technopôle provides businesses all the advantages of a very high-level research and
production environment, combined with all the conveniences of a city-center neighborhood. In a single area, the park synergizes:
Leading firms, SMBs and start-ups
in human and animal healthcare (Genzyme, Merial, sanofi aventis, sanofi pasteur MSD and others);
Research laboratories (the Jean Mérieux
Biosafety Level 4 Laboratory, the Protein Biology and Chemistry Laboratory and the WHO);
Universities and graduate schools (ENS Sciences and Letters, the University of Lyon and the Lyon-Gerland Biosciences
Federative Research Institute);
2 real estate programs especially designed for new life sciences firms.
